AHS has a welcoming, friendly, caring & happy atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door.
All pupils are encouraged to get involved & contribute to school life; every pupil is valued and can have their say about decisions made within the school via the School Council, from antibullying policies to school uniforms to food options available at lunch time.
Our teachers are always there for us – guiding, challenging & supporting us to realise our potentials, not just academically but also in our interests. A range of different facilities are available for our use and the wider community; from a fully equipped Gym, Dance Studio & Squash Courts to new improved ICT facilities. There are plenty of other extra-curricular activities suitable for pupils with other interests to participate in, for example Let’s Get Cooking & British Sign Language lessons, and opportunities to go overseas, for example trips to Italy and France.
We have met some amazing, inspirational people & have fantastic memories from our time here which will stay with us. ‘Together we Achieve’ really does apply to our school so we are proud to represent it here in the heart of the Almondbury Community.

Our time at AHS has been great. The warm atmosphere that is felt when walking through the doors continues throughout the school.
Our school offers a huge range of opportunities to allow all pupils to achieve their best and be prepared for whatever they choose in their future studies and career. Throughout our time at AHS we realise how lucky we have been to have considerate teachers and support staff that help us on our journey to become who we want to be, that care about our progress and spend extra time to support pupils when needed.
AHS is a safe environment where we learn to connect with people around us, pupils & staff alike. The end of term reward trips to the cinema acknowledge all pupils who have tried hard and had a positive attitude to school, whatever their ability.
There are opportunities for us to use a wide range of modern equipment & most teaching classrooms have an electronic Smart board to make learning interactive and memorable. Pupils have the chance to express their creative side & the work that is displayed is often commented on by visitors to school. Teachers take into account how different individuals learn best and use a variety of teaching methods to help every pupil reach their learning potential.
We feel that AHS has helped us to grow both academically and in confidence, and it has equipped us to go on from here & achieve our goals in life.
We are fortunate to be part of a really exciting partnership with the Junior, Infant, Nursery & Early Years Schools in our community and do lots of fun activities and projects together.
We are very happy to call ourselves Senior pupils at AHS & LC.
